A spate of car thefts have been taking place across Oakham and Rutland in recent weeks, leaving local drivers feeling concerned for the safety of their vehicles - and without answers as the police have limited evidence to follow up.

Multiple Rutland residents have experienced car thefts recently, many reporting incidents to the local policing team while others have taken to social media.

Thefts have seen vehicles broken into, often overnight, with some goods remaining untouched and others being taken from the vehicles.

Items stolen include bags of shopping, money, a purse, a coffee machine, items of clothing and other belongings.

Residents have appealed to the local community on social media, asking if neighbours have dashcam or doorbell footage of incidents from across the county. Meanwhile, others have reported catching the perpetrators on doorbell cams, but footage has not been clear enough for police to share.

To report a crime head online, or call 999 in an emergency.
