Rutland residents have the opportunity to join Dying Matters and the group of wonderful charities and volunteers on Sunday the 3rd of April 2022 for their Rutland Water walk to support a collection of local hospices.

The sponsored walk is part of an ongoing collaboration between Dying Matters in Rutland, LOROS, Sue Ryder and Dove Cottage, to help ensure that people in Rutland, Leicester, Leicestershire and the surrounding areas have access to the best end of life care possible.

Hospices rely on the community for much of their funding, which is why events like this are such a great way to raise funds while getting active and staying in touch with local people.

This is also a prime opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Rutland Water, good company, exercise, and you can get your friends to either sponsor you or join in!

The sponsored walk will take place on Sunday the 3rd of April 2022 and will start at Whitwell car park from 9.30am.

Walkers will be able take part at their preferred pace, with a choice of 3 routes, ranging from 3-5, 25 and, for the athletes among us, 38 kilometres! All ages are very welcome and even dogs can join too, as long as they are on a lead.

Tickets can be purchased online are £10 per adult and £5 per child, with offers available for bigger family groups.

Friends can sponsor you by going online and choosing a charity to donate to.

Bring a refillable water bottle to fill up around the circuit. Maps can be provided.

For anyone who would like to make a day of it, you can stop off for lunch at the Horse and Jockey at Manton, although the cost of this is not included in ticket price. To book the Horse and Jockey, call 01572 737335.

The team concluded: "Everyone knows someone who has been touched by the wonderful care our hospices provide during the most difficult times.

"So let's get active and make sure we give something back!"
