A survey has been launched to identify the worst fly-tipping hotspots across Rutland, South Kesteven, Stamford and the Harborough Villages.

MP for Rutland and Stamford Alicia Kearns has created the survey to 'build a clearer picture of where fly-tipping is taking place, how frequently it is happening, and whether residents have found it straightforward to report to incidents to their local council.'

After collecting this information, Kearns will then raise these hot spots to each council they are served by, calling for them to be properly monitored and action taken to prevent it happening in the future.

Kearns has previously campaigned for tougher action against fly tippers, including securing an increase in fines.

She also worked to amend the Crime and Policing Bill in March 2025, which led to the Government adopting this law change that means fly-tippers can receive up to three penalty points on their driving license when they are convicted.

Speaking about the new survey, Kearns said: 'Fly-tipping is a selfish crime that blights out beautiful countryside, and those who are caught should feel the full force of the law.

'I have previously secured tougher penalties for fly-tippers, but we need to ensure councils have the information they need to crack down on the problem effectively.

'That means knowing where the fly-tipping is happening and where hotspots are emerging.

'I will take the information members of our communities provide directly to our councils and press for hotspots to be properly monitored and urgent action taken.'
