Improve your money management and cooking skills for free this January.

Rutland Adult Learning & Skills Service (RALSS) is hosing a 'Cooking on a Budget' course, which begins later this month and will see Rutland residents learn about creating nutritious meals to a recipe on a budget.

A spokesperson for the skills service, supported by Rutland County Council, said: "The short course will teach you about prices and value for money of ingredients, using basic maths to weigh and measure, and how to follow a recipe to cook a budget-friendly nutritious meal."

The course is free for anyone aged 19+ who doesn't have GCSE Maths at C/4 or above, and will take place at Unit 16a, Oakham Enterprise Park, Ashwell Road, Oakham LE15 7TU.

The course will take place on 25 January from 9:30am until 12pm.

Part of Rutland County Council, RALSS offers a range of learning opportunities aiming to upskill and boost productivity, pay, jobs and living standards, delivered through a well-equipped building on the outskirts of Oakham.

You could study English, Maths and IT from the basics to Functional Skills qualifications, gain life-saving First Aid knowledge, explore a variety of arts and crafts, learn a new language, build independent living skills and more.

The team offer concessions on course fees if you claim certain benefits or have a low household income, and many of the qualifications are fully funded.

The service can also help residents with creating or updating CVs, searching for or applying for jobs or finding the appropriate course.
