A local café will be closing its doors for a week later this month.

Castle Cottage will be closing from 16 until 24 October, while the team take a well-earned break.

Formerly located off the walk way adjacent to All Saints' Church, the team relocated to Oakham Castle grounds in 2021 - although the permanent use of the building behind Oakham Castle's Great Hall as a café was only approved by rutland County Council earlier this year.

The café is open five days a week and serves hot and cold lunches and snacks, cakes coffees and a range of homemade treats for those who love either savoury or sweet treats.

They also host group bookings, and cater for weddings and other events hosted in the Great Hall, which is attached to the quaint but popular café.

It has both indoor and outdoor seating, dependant upon the weather, and boasts an ever-changing and customer-led menu, including their customer-recommended weekly scone option.
