A Rutland-base café and refill shop will be reopening under new management, and with a new name, this October.

Formerly Rutland Refill, the shop just off Oakham High Street will be reopening as Oakham Refill Shoppe this month, with the same passion for eco-friendly produce and great food, but with a new brand and identity.

Located on the Melton Road-Westgate junction, Rutland Refill was run by Jenni Penfold for just over two years, until it encountered financial difficulty.

The community rallied in an attempt to save the popular café, shop and community hub, but it was too little too late for the independent store.

As such, the team at Rutland Refill confirmed that the venue would be closing in September.

Now, Wendy, who previously worked at Rutland Refill, has taken on the shop space and will be launching her own refill shop and café later this month.

Wendy launched the brand on Facebook last week, saying: "Welcome to your new zero waste refills, coffee shop and lovely products made by local crafters shop.

"On this page you will be able to see what we are up to, view the workshops we will be offering and see if there is a community group you would like to join. We look forward to welcoming you into our shop soon."

The rebranded shop will welcome back many of the old workshops that used to run at the café, as well as new opportunities for learning, engaging and meeting new friends within the local community.

The shop will be opening its doors on 23 October 2023.

To mark this reopening, the team will be hosting three free fabric pumpkin making workshops on the big day, running from 10am until 11:30am, 12:15pm until 1:45pm and 2:15pm until 3:45pm.

Numbers are limited to 14 per workshop so you will need to message to book your space. Find out more on our What's On page - where you can also share your own upcoming events.
