The Admiral Hornblower has announced its reopening on 11th September, following its forced closure after a fire caused damage to both the pub and restaurant.

The fire was quickly got under control by a team of firefighters with the building being safely evacuated and no staff or customers injured.

The pub, which is situated on Oakham High Street, has used the closure as an opportunity to give the listed building some renovation work. The areas worst affected by the fires have been fully refurbished in the run-up to the reopening, after having to wait seven months for the all-clear to start the works.

The Hornblower is a popular favourite among Oakham locals, with many taking to Facebook to express their excitement at the news of the reopening. One woman shared that her great experience staying at The Hornblower hotel with her husband was partially influential in their decision to move to Oakham.

To celebrate their reopening, the pub has announced a competition on their Instagram page to win a three-course meal for two, including a bottle of wine.

They have also announced that the pub is not the only thing being given a new look. The new kitchen team, led by Head Chef Liam Bower, has crafted a new menu, including pan-fried seabass, sirloin steak and a crispy halloumi burger.

The pub is now taking bookings for its opening night, giving locals the chance to check out the new refurbishment and tuck into the new menu.
