Thieves have made off with thousands of pounds worth of heavy building site vehicles from Uppingham School.

A construction site at the school on Ayston Road was targeted overnight on October 24/25 and vehicles stolen include a 1-ton Dumper truck and 1.5 ton and 3-ton JCB excavators all sign-written with A Plant livery and a Thwaites Mach 580, 3-ton dumper truck (serial number 3161), sign written with Gladstone Construction.

Anyone in the vicinity of Ayston Road who has a CCTV is being asked to check the period from 4.15pm October 24 to 8am on October 25.

If they have any footage which appears out of the ordinary, or apparently showing 'workmen' moving items such as this away from the scene, then they are being urged to ring 101 and pass the information for the officers investigating using crime ref 19*570882.
