Time capsule buried at Barrowden's New Village Hall by Alicia Kearns MP and representative from Rutland Community.
A time capsule has been buried under Barrowden Village Hall as Alicia Kearns MP and representatives of the Parish Council visit the building site to see the latest progress.
The new community hub, which is expected to cost £800,000, is almost half complete. Currently, the funding has been utilised with timber frames and the first limestone wall in place.
MP for Rutland and Stamford, Alicia Kearns, said: 'It's wonderful to see the new community hub at Barrowden taking shape.
'This exciting project wouldn't be possible without the incredible work of the Barrowden Village Hall Development Group, the £300,000 Community Ownership Funding we secured from the government last year, and National Lottery Community Funding.'
'Our previous 1927 building was recently demolished,' said Paul Diver, Chairman of Barrowden Village Hall Development Group. 'We are now approaching halfway through our £800k project.'
The group were highly appreciative of the work Kearns has done to support this project.
Valerie Fraser, Chair of Trustees at Barrowden Village Hall, is excited about the future of the community hub, saying, 'We were pleased to welcome Alicia Kearns MP to view progress on our new village hub building today. She has been so supportive of our project as well as many other initiatives in the constituency.'
The project is currently running on time and within budget, with organisers hoping that it will be ready to welcome visitors early in the New Year.
