There's loads going on this weekend with a host of events taking place in and around Oakham and Rutland this weekend.

The Remi Harris Trio: Live Music in Uppingham

Described as 'an absolutely extraordinary musician' by Radio 2's Jamie Cullen, guitarist Remi Harris will be joined by Chris Nesbitt and Tom Moore for a night of Gypsy Jazz and Blues on Thursday 19th September.

The trio will be performing a mix of Gypsy Jazz and Blues at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Uppingham from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre

Stamford Showstoppers will be performing the lively and classic favourite musical 'Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.'

This family-friendly musical will be at the Stamford Corn Exchange Theatre from the Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd September.

Rutland Food and Drink Festival

Oakham is excited to once again host this year's Rutland Food and Drink Festival on Sunday 22nd September between 11am and 4pm.

The event will include over 70 stalls of local businesses across Oakham. Stalls will be in Victoria Hall, Oakham Castle, the High Street and Market Place.

There will also be live entertainment from Chris Poole and Rocka-Buy Records. For more information on this event, check out our recent post.

Pressed Flower Workshops

Connie Taylor Ceramics will be hosting an exciting pottery workshop in Oakham this weekend. 

The pressed flower workshops will take place on 21 September between 11am and 1pm or 1.30am and 3.30pm. 

Connie is inviting people to "Arrange and imprint the dried flowers onto a pre-rolled slab of clay using a slab roller, and choose from a number of cutters to make up to six coasters.

The workshop costs £60 and can be booked here.

Thursday Night Dinner at Fox and Hounds

Fox and Hounds host a weekly special every week (Nub News).

The team at The Fox & Hounds in Knossington be hosting their weekly Thursday night special on 12 September, and this week the team are serving up beer braised beef, smoked bacon and kidney pudding on champ mash, or locally smoked seafood and baby spinach cannelloni with wilted greens and samphire salad. 

For just £12.95, every week they put on a popular meal deal, and you can head down to 6 Somerby Road, Knossington to join the fun.
