The Rutland Water Parkrun team are hosting a 'new to parkrun' event this weekend.

Parkrun is a national initiative that sees amateur runners head to their local parks and public spaces to participate in a social run.

The nationwide initiative is free and community-led, allowing participants to walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. The adult event is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning, while Junior parkrun is 2k run, dedicated to 4-14 year olds and their families, and takes place every Sunday morning.

The weekly event takes place at the Normanton Church, South Shore, Rutland Water Reservoir, Oakham, LE15 8RP. Please park at The Waterside Cafe, Rutland Water Reservoir, Normanton Road, Edith Weston, Oakham, LE15 8HD.

What is parkrun?

parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. You can walk, jog or run, join in whatever your pace.

When it is?

Rutland Water parkrun is held at Normanton Church and starts at 9am. The team suggest that you arrive at 8.30am where we will meet and greet you at the Waterside Café then walk with you to the start in time for a briefing at 8.50am where we'll put you at ease and tell you all the information you need to know.

After the event, attendees are welcome to join the team for a coffee in the café.

Will I be last?

Totally impossible! The team have a tail walker who is last and regularly have walkers, including volunteer parkwalkers, who support anyone wishing to walk the course.

How much does it cost?

parkrun is completely free, and you'll also be given a token for a discounted parking price of £1.
