Two teenagers assaulted in Oakham High Street

Two teenagers were assaulted - one requiring hospital treatment for a knife injury - after an incident in Oakham town centre on Friday night (April 26).

A Leicestershire Police spokesman told Oakham Nub News: "At around 8.30pm, two teenagers were assaulted while walking along High Street with a group of friends.

"They had been approached by the occupants of two cars which had pulled up just before the incident.

"A 17-year-boy received hospital treatment after sustaining a knife injury to his hand and arm. The second victim, also 17, was punched in the face. He didn't require hospital treatment.

"A 17-year-old youth has been arrested on suspicion of assault this morning (28 April) and remains in police custody.

"A 17-year-old youth and a 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault have been released under investigation.

"The assaults are being treated as an isolated incident."

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact the police on 101 quoting incident 19*212681.
