Victoria Hall invites locals to a meeting this week to discuss fundraising ideas to support the running and management of the building.

Held at 6pm on Tuesday 10th September, the meeting will be a valuable opportunity for Oakham residents to discuss fundraising methods.

Since the launch of Victoria Hall's fundraising for £50,000 on the building's 125th birthday last week, the Hall has launched a new group called 'Friends of Victoria Hall,' hoping to get a band of volunteers together to help raise much needed funds for the building.

Known locally for her work as Chairman of Oakham Pride, Lucy Slessor will head the team with the hopes of encouraging others to do the same.

'I love Oakham, and I see Victoria Hall as the heart of the town,' said Lucy. 'It has so much to offer our community, which is why I'm keen to develop Friends of Victoria Hall.'

The hall, which celebrated its 125th Birthday on 3rd September, is in need of funds for a new boiler, roof repairs, refurbishment of some of the main spaces including the ballroom, and improved disability access.

Several of their current fundraising plans include a Vintage Tea Party to be held on 21st September, a Halloween party and a town talent show.

For more information on the planned fundraising efforts, the meeting will be held at 6pm in Victoria Hall on Tuesday 10th September.
