Oakham's Victoria Hall have today announced that they have been awarded nearly £10,000 in funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The National Lottery Community Fund awards £600 million to community ventures, projects and establishments each year from funds raised by players of the National Lottery.

Today, Tuesday 14 March 2023, the team at Oakham's Victoria Hall have announced that they are the lucky recipients of £9954, nearly the maximum amount awarded in each grant by the national organisation.

A spokesperson for the venue said: "We are delighted to announce our recent grant of £9954, awarded by the National Lottery Community Fund, we are so grateful!

"We are proactively working towards improving our lovely Victoria Hall and transforming it into a community venue and arts centre.

"The funding will be shared with a number of future projects."

The push to improve the venue began following the appointment of Victoria Hall's new Chairman, David Graham in April 2022.

Since then, the venue have hosted craft fairs, exhibitions, sales and more.

The Allman Gallery at Victoria Hall was redecorated at the end of last year, prompting a wave of new events featuring local artists.

Currently, the team are winding down after a successful visit from Discos for Grown Ups, a sold out event that took place on Saturday 11 March.

Running this week in the Gallery is the Vitamin Sea Exhibition, a celebration of the seas and seaside themes.

The display opened yesterday and is set to run until Saturday 18 March, featuring the work from 11 artists who live in and around the local area.
