The Colour Purple Cinema Showing at Rutland County Museum

Cinema for Rutland is showing the 2024 film The Colour Purple at Rutland County Museum on Thursday 2nd January between 7.30pm and 10pm.

The film is: "A story of love and resilience based on the novel and the Broadway musical, The Colour Purple is a decades-spanning tale of one woman's journey to independence. Celie faces many hardships in her life, by ultimately finds extraordinary strength and hope in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood."

This films is 12a certification with tickets to the showing costing £7.50 and are available from the Rutland and Stamford Sounds website.

Brew and Chat at Oakham United Football Club

Between 7pm and 9pm on Thursday 21st November, Oakham United Football Club are welcoming men to join them for a brew and a chat. This event is hosted regularly. with the next ones in January also being 16th January and 30th January.

This event is hosted by 100MEN, a men's mental health charity encouraging men talk about what they are going through and creates a safe environment for men to receive mental heath support.

Learn to Play Bridge

Rutland and Oakham Bridge Club are welcoming people to their new beginner course starting throughout January. Their friendly, supportive and encouraging group hopes to introduce more people into learning to play bridge and welcomes people of all abilities.

Their Social Bridge Club is played on Monday and Thursday and the Competitive Bridge on Tuesday and Friday.

Beginner courses will start in January, with full details, locations and details as well as contact details are on the Bridge Club website.

Thursday Night Dinner at Fox and Hounds

The team at The Fox & Hounds in Knossington be hosting their weekly Thursday night special on 2nd January, and this week the team are serving up a mouth-watering burgers. This weeks special is a crispy katsu schnitzel burger, coconut coleslaw and skinny fries or a beef burger with blue cheese, bacon and caramelised onion.

For just £12.95, every week they put on a popular meal deal, and you can head down to 6 Somerby Road, Knossington to join the fun.
