Join in with a host of events taking place in and around Rutland this weekend, including sport, a quiz, food and family fun.

Quiz Night at The Plough

The weekly quiz at The Plough is a popular event at friendly village pub, and will be taking place again on Thursday 28 September. 

The event costs £1 per person to enter, max 6 person per team. 

Winning team get a round of drinks, and all teams go into a draw to crack the safe – the safe this week stands at £60. The prize draw goes up £10 per week until opened!

On Saturday, the team at The Plough will also be welcoming Johnny September, who will be performing 60's classics to modern day hits.

Music starts 8pm and entry is free.

Thursday Night Dinner at The Fox and Hounds

The Fox and Hounds will be hosting their £12 Thursday special again on 28 September.

This week's dish is gammon and chips, and you can enjoy a £3 Atlantic Pale Ale and other discounted drinks too!

Head down to 6 Somerby Road, Knossington to join the fun.

Rugby World Cup

This month, local bars and sports venues will be screening all rugby world cup games.

Join the fun at The Fox and Hounds in Knossington, The Plough in Greetham and other local pubs and bars.

Alternatively, get a feel for the game in Oakham's favourite sports bar, The Crown Tavern on Crown Walk, where landlady Lindsay is happy for customers to bring their own food - just be sure to grab a Guinness at the bar to enjoy with the exhilarating games!

Oktoberfest at The Grainstore

The Grainstore is hosting an Oktoberfest event from 29 September until 1 October 2023 where you can expect a full on weekend of live music, specially selected Oktoberfest beers, bratwurst, pretzels, Dirndls and Lederhosen! 

There is no need to book and entry is free.

Rocks by Rail Open Day

On 1 October, Rocks By Rail is hosting a family Open Day.

Take a trip on The Rutlander train and Ironstone Quarry Railway Day.
