Join in with a host of events in and around Rutland this weekend, including meal deals, outdoor adventure, classic cars and cheese galore - all just a short drive from Oakham!

Burger Night at The Fox and Hounds

Kick your weekend off early with Burger Night at The Fox and Hounds in Knossington.

On Thursday 18 May, The Fox and Hounds in Knossington will be returning with their weekly meal deal.

This week, enjoy a homemade cheese burger and chips for only £12. 

They are also offering a summer drinks deal, where you can get a pint of Atlantic Pale Ale for only £3.

Somerby Festival of Walking

Enjoy a weekend of free walks led by local volunteers from 19 - 21 May 2023, and indulge in a meal or drinks at one of the local pubs. The Festival includes a guided walk of the 10th Battalion Trail.

Somerby is a small rural village in High Leicestershire, an area of rolling hills and quiet valleys set with small picturesque villages and farms. It is a quiet rural area with an extensive network of country lanes, tracks, footpaths and bridleways and panoramic views across open countryside from Burrough Hill iron-age hill fort.

Somerby is found between Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire and Oakham in Rutland. Somerby Festival of Walking will be based at Somerby Memorial Hall, High Street, Somerby LE14 2QB.

Artisan Cheese Fair

On 20 and 21 May 2023, the UK's largest dedicated cheese fair returns to Melton Mowbray - just a 20 minute drive from Oakham. 

With 40-50 artisan cheesemakers from UK and Ireland who make around 200 cheese, this is a cheese lovers paradise.

If cheese isn't your thing, there will be loads of other stands, as well as hot food, drinks, theatre, and workshops etc.

Classic Wheels at Rutland Showground

Rutland Showground will host its third Classic Wheels' event on Sunday 21 May 2023.

More than 1000 classic vehicles were on display in 2022 alongside autojumble stands, food, drink and craft stalls, live music, children's entertainment and club displays.

The show opens at 10am until 4pm. 

Day tickets are just £10 and Children under 12 are free. Car Parking is free.

Turn up in a classic (pre 1990) and park up in Pole Position located within the show. Includes 2 x show tickets per vehicle.

Expect to see hundreds of classic, rare and retro cars, bikes and commercials alongside markets stands and club displays.

North Luffenham Garden Club Plant Sale

North Luffenham Garden Club has a big plant sale on Saturday 20 May at The Fox, North Luffenham 

This will take place from 10am - 4pm. 

There will be bacon baps and drinks available.
