Rutland Day

Every year on 13 September a special Rutland Day event is held at Oakham Castle celebrating all things Rutland.

This free family day out gives locals and visitors the opportunity to delve into Rutland's rich heritage and culture, celebrating the best of England's smallest county.

The day will include a live re-enactment from The Ferres Household and a performance from local ukulele band The D'Ukes of Rutland.

There will also be the chance to try Rutland's brand new VR experiences and get stuck into some natural crafts with Root and Branch. There will also be plenty of local stalls and attractions to explore.

Rutland Ride and Stride

Rutland Ride and Stride is back for 2025 for another heritage-based fundraiser encouraging local people to get moving in support of Rutland's Historic Churches.

Taking place on 13 September, Rutland Ride and Stride challenges participants to visit as many churches in the county in one day, using any more of transport that is not driving. Although many participants opt to cycle or walk, fun and imaginative modes of transport are welcome, whether that be unicycling, roller-skating or riding a horse.

The fundraiser will go toward the repair and maintenance of Rutland's Historic Churches, with half of the funds raised by each participant going to Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust and the other half going to a Rutland church of their choice.
