The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for snow tomorrow, Thursday 8 February.

It is expected to snow in the early hours, turning to sleet in the afternoon. This can make road conditions challenging.

Rutland County Council have let residents know: "Our gritters will be out tonight and tomorrow in the early hours to treat roads. Please take care when travelling."

The Met Office also shared a handy list of how to stay safe in the snow.

Advice includes:

When driving

  • Plan your route
  • Check for delays and road closures
  • Leave more time to prepare and check your car before setting off
  • Check wipers, tyres and screen wash
  • Pack a torch, blanket, de ice/scraper, in-car charger and warm clothes
  • Avoid driving where possible, but if you must, use low revs and high gears and dipped headlights
  • Steer into skids and leave room for slips

Thinking ahead and staying safe

  • Be sure to have torches and batteries
  • Stock up on candles and matches or lighters
  • Have plenty of blankets and warm clothing to hand in and out of the house
  • be sure you have a few essentials if you can't make it to the shops
  • Prevent frozen pipes by opening kitchen and bathroom doors
