Arthur Brown, a Year 5 student from St Nicholas Primary School in Cottesmore, reached the finals of a national art competition.

Art Bytes is a nationwide inter-school art competition. Arthur and 20 of his classmates entered their pieces into the competition with the help of their wonderful teacher Jane Morton and sponsored by the Arts Society, Oakham.

In May, winning entries were announced, with three pieces from St Nicholas School making it through to compete at national level.

On 12th June, Jill Harris from the Arts Society, Oakham, accompanied Arthur and his mum and younger brother to the East Midlands celebration and presentation event at the User Gallery in Lincoln.

Arthur and his special guests got taken on a tour of the gallery and took part in a gel printing workshop. He was then, along with other students from the region, presented with prizes for his brilliant work.

Congratulations to Arthur and all the Year 5 pupils from St Nicholas Primary School that took part.

Art Byte has compiled a brilliant virtual art gallery where all the finalist entries can be viewed.
