A Yellow Warning of snow and ice has been issued in Rutland.

A Yellow Weather Warning has been issued for Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 March in Rutland this week, with rain showers, combined with temperatures dropping into the minus degrees, and the possibility of snow, making conditions hazardous.

What does this mean?

  • It is possible that snow showers will cause some disruption to travel, with a small chance of more widespread disruption for some.
  • There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel
  • There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off
  • A small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected

This weather warning starts at 9pm on Monday 6 March

It is expected to end at 10am on Tuesday 7 March.

The Met Office have said that Rutland residents should expect ice and some snow leading to difficult travel conditions in places.

Some roads and railways are likely to be affected, with longer journey times by road, bus and train services expected.

Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces may take place

There will probably be some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
