This week’s Uppingham Town Council meeting will see many long-term councillors standing down

The meeting of Uppingham Town Council on Wednesday 8 March 2023 will be the last one before the local elections take place in May.
Consequently, it will also be the last Full Council meeting for many long-standing Councillors who have chosen not to stand for re-election.

Members of the public are welcome at meetings of the Full Council, which take place at the town hall, 49 High Street East, Uppingham LE15 9PY.
On the agenda will also be
- Mayor's opening remarks
- To receive apologies for absence
- Declarations of members' interests and applications for dispensations.
- An opportunity for the public to speak, in accordance with Standing Orders 2.3.4 -2.3.9 To confirm the minutes of the full council meeting held on 1st February 2023.
- To receive the Clerks report and any recommendations/actions therein.
- To receive a) financial accounts and reconciliation statements to end February 2023 and b) seek a resolution to send a letter of complaint to Barclays Bank.
- To consider funding of a Commemorative bench in respect of the Coronation of HM King Charles III.
- To receive an overview of the local election paperwork in May 23 and responsibilities therein.
- To receive an overview of the informal working party held on 8th Feb in response to the RCC request for Parish Council observations relating to the Call for Sites, Local Plan, and to agree the response from Uppingham Town Council.
- To consider whether the Council wishes to go ahead with the Changing Places Toilet funding for Uppingham.
- To consider Uppingham Town Councils response to the LCC/RCC decision for re- evaluating funding for the vital 747 bus route.
- To receive the Clerks procedural update of the Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan.
- To receive the Clerks update on the up-to-date position of the proposed crematorium. To receive the Clerks update regarding the Uppingham Town Council observer on Uppingham First.
- To consider an offer from Uppingham First to provide a defibrillator to be attached to the public toilets in the Market Place".
- To consider the PlanningApplications
- To consider the following resolution "that in view of the confidential nature of the following agenda item, the press and the public be excluded from the meeting, in accordance with the Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960, section 1"
The meeting begins at 7pm, and it will be a chance for the people of Uppingham to say a farewell to those members who have served them, and the town of Uppingham diligently for so many years.
