In order to give them a taste of first team experience Oakham United fielded a number of young players in the away clash with Harborough Town Reserves.

The game began with a flurry of goals in the first eleven minutes.

Harborough were the first to get on the scoresheet with a header after only four minutes

A minute later Oakham netted, only for the goal to be judged offside.

However, there was an Oakham equaliser after ten minutes when David Bates scored with a penalty.

Oakham being on equal terms proved to be short-lived as Harborough increased their lead only a minute later.

During the rest of the first half both teams had chances but failed to find the target again.

Oakham United started the second half on the attack, which culminated in Kieran Burley scoring the second equaliser with an impressive goal and opening his account in the first team.

On the half hour mark Harborough scored what proved to be the winner when an attacker was the first to reach a through ball.

The wind picked up, making conditions more difficult for both teams.

A free-kick to Harborough was well-saved by Stewart Lambie and then Harborough almost added another goal but the ball hit the crossbar.

in the last ten minutes Harborough had the ball in the net again but this time it was their turn to have it ruled offside.

In the dying minutes Stewart Lambie did well to save a goal-bound shot with his feet.

Considering that Oakham fielded an experimental team there were quite a few positives to be taken from the match.

Oakham United: 1. Stewart Lambie, 2. Josh Robertson, 3. Ollie Little, 4. James North, 5.Matt Richmond, 6.Zac Cameron, 7.Kieran Burley, 8.David Bates, 9.Dave Gould, 10.Josh Gooding, 11.Kris Kefford, 12. Aaron Mitchell.
