A Leicestershire police officer has won a top award after bravely fighting stage 4 cancer last year, whilst training a new police dog.
PC Darren Sewell of Leicestershire Police this week received Thin Blue Paw Special Recognition Award, which follows 22 years as a frontline police officer.

Rutland's Police and Crime Commissioner Rupert Matthews emphasised the need for long-term funding to boost efforts to prevent violence during the Prime Minister's visit to Leicester this week.
The Commissioner met Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak during a visit to the British Gas training academy in Aylestone Road.
Covid vaccinations for 12-15 year olds will start next week in Rutland.
The move follows the government announcing this week that all 12-15 year olds in England will be offered the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
Minor changes will be introduced to journey times on two Rutland bus services this month to improve travel options for local school and college students.
The Rutland Flyer 2 (RF2) early morning service between Melton Mowbray and Oakham, Monday to Friday, will be changing on Monday 20 September.
The Clinical Commissioning Group has confirmed that Rutland will have a new Vaccination Centre from next month.
MP Alicia Kearns announced the news on her Facebook Page, which says the centre will be open from October 6.
Oakham's Centenary Field is looking even better thanks to the completion of some improvements.
The town council agreed to the work in March to continue the development of Centenary Field, which was created in 2018, to commemorate the First World War,
