Talented teenage F4 driver Teddy Wilson has been shortlisted for the career-defining Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award. (AMABA).

The announcement was made in Autosport magazine last week, however his chances of selection could be weakened, unless he can find more sponsors and partners to help him finish his season in the F4 US Championship.

Rutland County Council is working with Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service to launch a new initiative to help prevent crime in rural communities.

The Safer Villages scheme - part of the Safer Rutland Partnership - has been developed by the council's Community Safety Team together with the local fire and rescue service and policing units that patrol Rutland.

Oakham United v Stamford Belvedere

Oakham United's third pre-season friendly yesterday evening (Weds) was an all-Peterborough and District League clash with Stamford Belvedere of Division 1 as the visitors.

Before the game, player-manager Stewart Lambie had said that he viewed the game as a chance to look at more of the younger players. They could be knocking on the first team door in the coming season.

Captains of club and country were among the rugby legends who gathered to pay respects to David Matthews at a Thanksgiving Service in Rutland on Monday.

Fifteen former Leicester Tigers and England captains - including Martin Johnson, Peter Wheeler, Martin Corry, Lewis Moody and Neil Back - were joined by other players from the club's history to lead the tributes to record appearance-holder Mr Matthews at St Nicholas Church in Cottesmore, and afterwards at Oakham Rugby Club.
