Let us all walk together on Saturday 12th November for the FREE Magical Lantern Walk 2022.

Join the children of Rutland as they process through Oakham with warm glowing lanterns at dusk.

Each year, in November, children of all ages gather at dust in the heart of Oakham. Holding brightly lit lanterns of all shapes and sizes, we walk together through the town centre and finish outside Oakham Castle's Great Hall. Lanterns are lined up to admire, hot chocolates are available from Castle Cottage to warm our hands, and we celebrate the shift in seasons together. 

Make your own lantern or join us at the lantern making workshop on Saturday the 29th of October in the Great Hall at Oakham Castle.

Children and families will meet on the steps of Oakham All Saints' Church from 4.30pm. The procession begins at 4.40pm, weaving it's way through Cutts Close all the way to Oakham Castle. There, lanterns are lined up on the orange rope, for all to amire. Warm drinks and small snacks are available from Castle Cottage Cafe. Please remember to collect your lantern before heading home.
