Local Elections 2021: Tom Johnson elected in Uppingham landslide

Uppingham has a new town councillor- Tom Johnson.

Tom won in a landslide gaining 903 votes, compared to 160 votes from his opponent Barry Read.

The Thursday by-election followed the resignation of Cllr Alec Crombie.

Tom is from Uppingham and works as an assistant funeral director.

He studied at the National Youth Theatre and is a member of Rutland Musical Theatre.

Following his election victory, Tom posted on social media: "Thank You! I would like to offer my genuine and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who voted.

"I am quite honestly feeling immensely overwhelmed by the support that so many people have shown over the past few weeks and it really does mean so very much.

"Words don't do justice to how touched I am by everyone's kindness. Thank you."
