An Oakham stabbing victim is now 'awake' weeks after the near fatal incident.
Since the attack in Bullfinch Close, Oakham, in January, 36-year-old Emma Wolfenden has been in Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham.
Leicestershire Police had described Emma's condition as "critical but stable."
However, her brother Charles Wolfenden has been posting regular updates on Facebook.
His latest at the weekend said: "Emma is awake now and mouthing words. She can't speak yet, because of a recent operation on her throat and a reliance of additional oxygen, but she's aware and communicating ðŸ'.
"We've got her a new phone and she's getting that on Sunday. It shouldn't be long now before she can come off the ventilator completely.
"Overall, a massive improvement over the last two weeks and we're super happy with her progress, the doctors are also impressed.
"She should be able to make calls and texts in a week or so (she'll have a new number and she won't be getting her old one back as it's been taken for evidence).
Charles added: "She's still a super poorly girl, but all these advances are a positive step. Emma you're doing a great job and long may it continue.
Robert Truscott, 47, of Lowther Close, Langham, Oakham, appeared before Leicestershire Magistrates charged with attempted murder, Section 18 Grievous Bodily Harm and possession of a bladed article, as previously reported by Nub News.
