Oakham Nub News has joined forces with a regular reader to share a 'Cocktail of the Week' feature.

Hey everyone this is Josh and here is another cocktail for you to enjoy this weekend.

Great for the hot weather, this week I would like to share the Mango Daiquiri.

The Daiquiri is thought to have been created at the turn of the century in the town of Daiquiri in Cuba. The mango is also from sunnier climates, and was first grown in India over 5,000 years ago. As such, I hope that you can see why I have picked this after the glorious sunshine that we have enjoyed this week.

You will need:

  • Half a mango
  • 50ml white rum
  • 25ml lime juice
  • 10ml simple syrup
  • Ice

Method:

  1. Peel and roughly chop the mango
  2. Add to a blender with all of your other ingredients
  3. Blitz until there are no lumps left
  4. You can strain it if you want a smoother drink
  5. Pour into a chilled coupe glass and enjoy

Check back next week for another Cocktail of the Week, shared each Friday to get the party started.

Alternatively, check out last week's cocktail feature here.

If you are loving the Daiquiris, we have also shared a Strawberry Daiquiri recipe and Watermelon Daiquiri recipe - which are technically each one of your 5 a day - so be sure to check them out.
