Elgar's Piano Concerto recreated in Oakham
By Peter Lawson 8th Jun 2026
On 6 June, Oakham residents were treated to an extraordinary evening in All Saints' Church from the inimitable David Owen-Norris.
David has constructed a piano concerto from the music and manuscripts of Edward Elgar.
He first spoke in a way that everyone was able to understand about how he had gone about constructing it using Elgar's stylistic trademarks.
He then gave a complete performance of the Elgar Piano Concerto accompanied by Anne Bolt, Head of Keyboard at Oakham School.
Peter Lawson, who is currently the Undersheriff of Rutland, said: 'It was a quite brilliant performance of a work none of us had ever heard. Everyone was blown away by the experience.'
The event was organised and sponsored by Arts for The Heart of England.
