Tonight Tuesday 18 April, Rutland County Council (RCC) have rejected an application for the development of 93 dwellings in Cottesmore.

The application was submitted on 19 May 2022 and included the development of 93 dwellings, 30% of which were set to be affordable homes, with the expectation that these would be made affordable through a shared ownership scheme.

The development was proposed for Mill Lane and included associated access, drainage and green infrastructure.

Many residents have voiced their pleasure at this rejection on social media, while a few hoping to move to the village are disjointed that more housing has been blocked, for now.

While RCC rejected this application, they did suggest that a smaller building would be more acceptable.

This comes as Local Elections loom. These will take place on 4 May 2023.

The application number is 2022/0604/MAF and can be found on the Rutland County Council website.
