The A1 remains closed following an incident which took place this morning, 18 March 2024.

Reported just after 7am, a lorry has crashed through the central barriers on the A1, causing long delays.

As a result, Great North Road is closed both ways from the A607 Harlaxton-Melton Mowbray turn off to the Rutland Water turn off.

A detour is in operation, via the A607 through Harlaxton to Melton Mowbray.

At least two lorries were involved in the incident, which the National Highways team has said will result in a "complex" recovery.

The road is expected to remain closed for several hours.
