Rutland County Council's Labour councillors are getting ready to host a 'Priorities for Rutland' public meeting this weekend.

All are welcome to attend a meeting, set to take place on Saturday 23 March, to discuss local priorities with the two Labour councillors for Oakham North West.

Cllrs Ramsay Ross and Steve McRobb will be welcoming Rutland residents to All Saints' Hall in Oakham to discuss their main priorities for Rutland, and to welcome feedback from local people.

Their priorities include:

  • Accessible, high quality health, dentistry and mental health services
  • More social and affordable housing and an end to homelessness
  • Transport links that serve the needs of our rural community
  • Better employment opportunities in towns and rural locations
  • Improvements to Oakham and Uppingham Town Centres

They have also listed "Better leisure and sport facilities for all, and especially a swimming pool" as a key priority, which comes ahead of a Full Council meeting to, once again, discuss the uncertain future of Catmose Sports Centre.

Cllrs Ross and Ramsay asked: "Do you agree with these priorities for Rutland? Come along and tell us your views."

The meeting will take place at All Saints' Hall, Oakham, on 23 March 2024 from 11am.
