An application has been submitted for a 61-house development covering 2.7 hectares.

Burley Appliances Ltd. has submitted an outline planning application for 61 dwellings with all matters reserved except access.

If accepted, the development would be located at 1 Lands' End Way, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6RB.

Houses on the development would be private housing, including 23 affordable homes, although more detailed numbers, including the size of these affordable homes, have not yet been provided.

The development would also include a sustainable drainage scheme and an open public space.

This proposal joins the application for 11 homes in Barleythorpe, a further 67 homes in Barleythorpe, and the Oakham Pastures development, which is currently underway.

Oakham residents have voiced their concerns that developments may impact local services, such as medical surgeries, roads and schools. However, some are pleased that more housing, and affordable housing, will come with these developments.

Following public objection, a 500-home development, also proposed for land in Barleythorpe, was recently withdrawn by De Merke Estates. This means that, for now, the 500-home development proposed over a year ago will not be going ahead.
