A planning application has been submitted to build 11 homes on land in Barleythorpe.

A Reserved Matters application was submitted by Larkfleet Homes in order to substitute apartments on a plot of land off Stud Road for 11 two and three-storey houses and associated parking.

The plot is located on land between Barleythorpe and Oakham's Burley Park Way, Barleythorpe, Rutland.

Larkfleet Homes have "found that apartments in this area are not in demand and therefore, as elsewhere on Oakham North, are proposing to substitute the apartments for three storey houses. These help maintain the scale development, whilst still responding to the local housing market."

The proposed development is located off Stud Road, Barleythorpe, Rutland. Image credit: RCC.

The application reference is 2021/0860/RES and can be found on the Rutland County Council website.

This comes after another application for a 67-home development was submitted by the same developer.

While some Rutland residents have shared their support of developments, particularly those containing affordable homes, others have voiced concerns over the growth of Oakham in regards to local services and infrastructure.
