An application has been submitted for a development of up to 67-homes in Barleythorpe by Larkfleet Homes.

The application has been submitted for land on Wheatfield Way, Barleythorpe, Oakham.

The proposed site is situated in the north west of Oakham on a parcel of land situated between Main Road (B640), Lands End Way and Burley Park Way (A606).

If accepted, the development would take place on a 4.66 acre plot in the centre of the Barleythorpe Sustainable Urban Extension, where approximately 1000 dwellings have been built over a 12 year period.

In the application, 2023/0632/RES, 67 dwellings of 1, 2, 3 and 4-bedrooms have been proposed.

This comes as the appeal for the 500-home development, also proposed for land in Barleythorpe, is withdrawn by De Merke Estates. While the 500-home development will not be going ahead as initially proposed over a year ago, other developments around Oakham are nearing completion.

The Oakham Pastures development on Uppingham road has just seen the first new homes added to the market.

While some Rutland residents have shared their support of developments including affordable homes, others have voiced concerns over the growth of Oakham in regards to local services and infrastructure.
