Applications are now open for the 2023 Rutland Ploughing Match,

The rural tradition showcases a range of traditional and modern ploughing methods, and attracts families, farmers and curious locals from Rutland and the surrounding areas.

The annual Match sees 85 competitors and their various methods of ploughing pitted against the autumn fields of Rutland. It dates back to the nineteenth century and has become a popular spectacle for hundreds of visitors and Rutland natives annually.

The event welcomes farmers from across the county to a day of friendly competition and includes:

  • Horse Ploughing
  • Vintage ploughing
  • Modern methods

Entries are now open for the unusual rural event, and you can get your application for by messaging the team on Facebook.

The Ploughing Match will take place on Whitwell Road, off the A606 Oakham to Stamford Road. The what3words reference for the exact location is mainly.escelated.behave.

The event will begin at 9am on 4 November 2023.
