Families in Rutland struggling to stay afloat this winter will be able to apply for a payment to help fund food and energy bills through the Household Support Fund (HSF).

Earlier this month, Rutland County Council distributed vouchers to households eligible for financial support thanks to the £157,371 allocated to the local authority.

The remaining money will now be used to support others who may be struggling to buy food or pay their energy bills as a result of the rising cost of living. An online application is now open. The scheme ends on 31 March 2023, or sooner if the fund is spent, so don't delay if you need help. To find out more and to apply, visit the RCC website.

Rutland County Council will consider applications and grant funding to those who would benefit the most. Please read the policy here before you apply.

Rutland County Council's Portfolio Holder for Finance, Governance and Performance, Change and Transformation, Cllr Karen Payne, said: "Thanks to the Household Support Fund we have been able to help lots of families who may be struggling with the pressures of the winter months.

"We know that there are people beyond the usual eligibility criteria who are also facing financial difficulties so it's welcome news that we are in a position to help those people too. I would urge anyone who is struggling to apply for this grant."

For other ways in which the council and other organisations can support residents can be found on the RCC website.

Those who do not have access to the internet can pick up a booklet with all information and contact details at any Rutland library or the Council offices.
