A venomous Black Widow spider has been found in a garage in Grantham and rescued by Rutland Sanctuary Zoo.

The team said: "This morning we were contacted by a garage in Grantham to see if we could help remove this young lady after being spotted. Rather than panicking and dispatching this beauty the gentleman looked to keep her safe and find her a new home."

Not native to the UK, this spider has been nicknamed Bella the Stowaway by Rutland Sanctuary Zoo

This is a great example of the important work undertaken by Rutland Sanctuary Zoo, who rescue critters, insects and animals in need, like little Bella.

The zoo, previously called Bugtopia, was taken over in September 2020 and rebranded Rutland Sanctuary Zoo.

They can be found on the North Shore of Rutland Water and are open from 10am - 4pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, and from 10am - 4pm on Sunday.
