Police have found a body in Melton Mowbray while searching for a missing man.

Leicestershire Police were called to the railway embankment close to Dorian Rise shortly before 8.30am on Wednesday 13th August after receiving reports that a man had been discovered.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement published by Leicestershire Police, 'although formal identification has not yet been completed, it is believed to be missing man Lewis Mackenzie.

'Lewis, 29, was last seen around midday on Sunday 10th August on the Hartopp Road area of the town.

'Officers are in contact with Lewis' family and providing support at this difficult time.

'The death is currently being treated as unexplained but it is not believed to be suspicious. Formal identification will be completed by HM Coroner.'
