There are multiple current and upcoming road closures in and around Oakham to be aware of, including the Main Road through Oakham, Cottesmore Road and Westfield Avenue, as well as an Oakham Footpath.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Already in place is gas works on Main Road (B640) has been closed since 9.45pm on 11th August and will remain shut until late on 15th August.

The work is being carried out as part of gas works by Cadent, with a diversion in place from Oakham Town Centre, along the B668 to the round about and then left along A606 past Rutland County Showground until the roundabout where the A606 meets the B640.

The section of road closed in by the turning for Haybarn Close, so access to the road either side of this is still possible, there is just no through route.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Between 9pm on 18th August and 6am on 19th August, Openreach works will close a small section of Cottesmore Road, near Hambleton Bakery.

The recommended diversion for this closure is via the A606 and through Burley on the Hill to Cottesmore.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Westfield Avenue, off Cold Overton Road near Rutland Memorial Hospital, will be closed from 8am to 3pm on 26th August. There is a simple diversion for this along Princess Avenue.

-----------------------------------------------------------

The footpath connecting Cutts Close Park to Oakham Market Square along the edge of All Saints Church is closed until the 29th August. This is for work organised by Oakham Town Council to fix the Church wall.

There is plenty of alternative routes, including via Church Street, Oakham Castle Grounds and along the B668.
