This morning, Thursday the 7th of July, Boris Johnson resigned as the Prime Minster.
Boris Johnson has served as the leader of the Conservative Party since 2019, but has come under increasing pressure to resign over the recent months.
From 'Partygate' to Pincher, this resignation does not come as a shock to the nation, as more than 50 Government officials quit in a 48 hour window.
After the newly appointed Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi urged Boris Johnson to 'go now', it appears that the PM has agreed, with the intention of staying on until October.
Just before his resignation, the Rutland and Melton MP, Alicia Kearns, said: "It is deeply disappointing that the Prime Minister has chosen not to listen to colleagues and resign.
"It is evident that the Party has no confidence in him, just as he has not held mine since January.
"I am standing for re-election to the 1922, and am clear a second VONC is right."
