What's on in Oakham this weekend: social cycles, live music galore, and a special fundraising event

Once again, Oakham is buzzing with community led events, offering a bit of something for everyone, from adventure to culture.

Enjoy live music, fundraising opportunities, social bike rides, good food and much, much more this weekend in Rutland.

Sigma Sports Social Ride

Heading out on Saturday the 9th of July from the Sigma Sports Oakham store, the team have joined forces with the guys from Universal Colours for this very special weekend spin.

Not just joining the ride, the cycle clothing experts will also be providing all those that register for the ride with a free pair of socks, bottles and a special discount code that can be used on the Sigma Sports website as well as in Sigma Sports stores.

There will be two groups, one slow and one fast. Both groups one and two will cover the same 44 kilometre route, which will include a lap of Rutland Water.

This event will begin at 9am.

Music for a Summer's Evening Concert

On Saturday the 9th of July 2022, St Peter & St Paul Church on Exton Church Lane will play host to the Festival Chamber Choir's 'Music for a Summer's Evening' concert. 

The Festival Chamber Choir, composed of eighteen young professional singers from London, perform exquisite works by Bob Chilcott, Felix Mendelssohn, and Ralph Vaughan Williams, including Charles Villiers Stanford's Three Motets

The concert will begin at 7:30pm and run until 9:30pm. Ticket prices range from £3 - 15.

Party in the Park

The Party in the Park will take place at Cutts Close

On Sunday the 10th of July from 12pm, the local community are invited to gather in Cutts Close to celebrate at the Party in the Park event.

The Lord Lieutenant encourages everyone to come and celebrate our Rutland Military, Veteran, Emergency and Volunteer groups at the community led Party in the Park.

Performing will be 'The Bluebird Belles' and 'Manky Beds', who were a hit at Rutland Music Festival last weekend.

There will also be food, drinks, and craft stalls.

Rutland Lions fundraiser

On top of all of this, The Rutland Lions will be hosting a bucket collection at Oakham's Tesco to help raise funds for the palliative care of local terminally ill child, Lucas Posey-Bottomley.
