Police investigating three house break-ins in Rutland believe the crimes may be linked.

In all three incidents the properties were entered through a window while the homeowners were out.

Sometime between 1.30pm on Thursday, 19 December and 9am on Saturday, 21 December, items of jewellery were stolen from a house in Aldgate, Ketton.

More jewellery was taken from a home in Holygate Road, Ridlington, sometime between 10.50am on Friday, 20 December and 1pm the following day.

Police received a report at 7.15pm on Saturday, 21 December, that an alarm had been activated at a home in Main Street, Preston. No items have been reported stolen.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "No one was in the properties at the time of the incidents.

"Officers are continuing enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incidents and are keeping an open mind as to whether the reports may be linked."
