'Community champion' celebrated with award by Rutland High Sheriff for hard work with charities and community radio

Rutland High Sheriff presented Rob Persani, Station Manager of Rutland and Stamford Sound, with an award to celebrate his exemplary work within the community.
Rob's voice can be heard across Rutland, presenting his show on Rutland and Stamford Sound, giving traffic warnings, spreading awareness about community events and highlighting local charities.
The High Sheriff, Richard Cole, presented Rob with his award while he was presenting his regular morning show from Uppingham Market Place. He said: "It was great to be able to give Rob his award while he was presenting his show from Uppingham. He is a true community champion and is a real ambassador for the county."
Rob was nominated by members of the community, with one nomination saying: "he is absolutely tireless, he is everywhere, there must be more than one of him."
On 5th March, Rob and the Rutland and Stamford Sound team were at Oakham Market Place to celebrate the fourth birthday of the radio station. They handed out pieces of birthday cake to passers by and Rob spoke out about the importance of the team behind Rutland and Stamford Sound.

Rob said: "It has been wonderful to see Rutland and Stamford Sound develop over the past four years, with listener numbers growing all the time and more and more people telling us how much they value the station as a source of local information.
"Whilst it was a lovely surprise to receive the award from the High Sheriff, the continued success of the station is very much down to all the people who volunteer with Rutland and Stamford Sound. As well as the volunteer presenters who are well known to our listeners, we are lucky to have a dedicated group of supporters who give up their time to carry out a wide range of vital activities behind the scenes."

Rutland and Stamford Sound has been a key source of information in the community for many people since its founding in March 2021.
Congratulations to Rob from the Oakham Nub News Team!
