The Community Speed Watch Scheme, which was co-ordinated by Rutland County Council with Leicestershire Police, has led to 638 letters of caution being issued to speeding motorists in 2025.
The scheme has bought together local communities with Leicestershire Police, Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Road Safety Partnership (LLRRSP) and Rutland County Council to create the Safer Rutland Partnership.
Spokesperson for LLRRSP, Jonathan Clarkson said: 'While we are incredibly grateful to Community Speed Watch volunteers for their continued commitment and hard work, it remains disappointing that so many drivers continue to exceed speed limits in Rutland's communities.
'Excessive speed significantly increases the risk of death and serious injury to innocent road users and has a negative impact on quality of life in our rural villages.'
With support from Leicestershire Police, the LLRRSP sent warning letters to the registered keepers of vehicles observed speeding.
The letters advised drivers of the reported offence, explain why speeding is such a community concern and provide guidance to encourage safer driving behaviours.
In 2025, Community Speed Watch took place in Rutland in Essendine, Belmesthorpe, Clipsham, Little Casterton, Langham and Ridlington.
Cllr Christine Wise, Portfolio Holder for Transport, Environment and Communities, said: 'Community Speed Watch gives residents a real voice in tackling speeding where they live.
'What we hear from local volunteers helps us decide where further action is needed, including where Speed Indicator Devices are installed as part of Phase 2 of our road safety upgrade programme.
'By working alongside our communities and partners, we are reinforcing the message that speed limits matter whilst helping to make Rutland's roads safer for everyone. This data can be vital in targeting our limited resources and having the most impact on reducing excessive speed.'
The LLRRSP will continue to support increased police presence on Rutland's roads to tackle speeding, mobile phone use, not wearing secrets, dangerous driving and drink and drug driving, especially with severe weather conditions.
