A patient has died with coronavirus at Rutland Memorial Hospital.

The Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust announced the fatality as one of two at its hospitals today, bringing its total to six.

A spokesman told Oakham Nub News that this was the first death at Rutland Memorial Hospital of someone with the virus.

The male victim was a man in his 70s who passed away on Sunday.

The trust says it has been treating other patients with the virus at its hospitals, but the spokesman declined to say how many other patients have been tested positive with the virus.

The trust has offered its condolences and says it will not comment further on the individual details or circumstances of patients.

The other patient whose death was announced today was another man in his seventies who also had underlying conditions and he died in Hinckley and Bosworth Hospital on Thursday April 24.

The trust has seen six people, in total, die at its hospitals.
