Coronavirus crisis: Mobile testing units in Rutland from today

By The Editor 1st Jun 2020

A Mobile Testing Unit (MTU) will be operating in Rutland in support of the COVID-19 National Testing Programme from today (Monday).

Testing is by appointment only. Appointments can be made through this link.

Mobile units are only in a location for a few days. They have an integrated one-way system that allows people with an appointment to attend for either walk-in or drive through testing.

The eligibility criteria for tests have been extended to include:

Anyone aged over the age of 5 with symptoms

Essential workers will be given priority.

More guidance can be found here

For tests to be effective you must be symptomatic, more on the symptoms of COVID-19 can be found on the NHS website.

Cllr Alan Walters, Rutland County Council portfolio holder for health and social care, comments: "We are pleased to support the NHS in providing a mobile testing facility in Rutland.

"Testing enables people who are exhibiting symptoms, or those who are key workers, to make the appropriate decision as to whether they need to isolate or are safe to return to work."

"I would therefore urge anyone who is exhibiting symptoms, or is a key worker, to book and appointment to get tested."
