Coronavirus crisis: MP recognises Oakham firm as 'unsung hero' as she pledges support on PPE

By The Editor 25th Apr 2020

An Oakham business has been recognised by Rutland MP Alicia Kearns for its support for essential workers during the pandemic.

Mrs Kearns has declared Lucy Stevenson, John Wolloff, Liz Clarke, Kerrie Lambert and the team at Rutland Sewing, a sewing school and supplies service, as a 'Rutland and Melton Unsung Hero'.

She said on social media: "They have closed their doors to the public and focused all their efforts on producing almost 1,000 head bands for NHS staff to make PPE less painful to wear. They have also created scrubs for local hospitals."

The recognition comes as the MP pledged to do all she can to help essential workers source PPE.

She said on Facebook: "Since the Pandemic began, I've been doing everything I can to connect our great local businesses producing PPE to Rutland and Melton's critical workers.

"If any Rutland and Melton frontline worker requires PPE, or any resident has an issue they require my support with, please email me at [email protected] and I'll do all I can to help you."
