Oakham Police have issued their first fines to people breaching the 'lockdown' regulations.

The police say that yesterday they went on a local call towards Hambleton and came across two vehicles near Egleton.

The occupants were from outside of Rutland.

They searched a vehicle and found small amounts of cannabis.

Three Covid-19 related fines were also issued.

Oakham Police also patrolled other areas around Rutland Water, including checking car parks and premises, an exercise which earned the online thanks of Rutland MP Alicia Kearns.

The patrols came amid fine weather as authorities urged people to stay home over the Easter weekend.
